Girl Scouts of Taiwan
De Girl Scouts of Taiwan (Chinese: 中華民國台灣女童軍; Hanyu Pinyin: Zhōnghuámínguó Táiwān Nǚtóngjūn; Tongyong Pinyin: Jhōnghuámínguó Táiwān Nyǔtóngjyūn; nl. 'Republiek China Taiwan Meisjes Scouts’) is de nationale gidsenorganisatie van Taiwan (Republiek China). Sinds 1963 is de organisatie lid van de World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
Ze zijn opgedeeld in 25 administratieve regio's en bedienen tussen de 15.000 en 30.000 leden in ongeveer 1400 groepen.
Ontstaan[bewerken]
De gidsenbeweging werd in 1919 geïntroduceerd in Shanghai, Republiek China (de huidige Volksrepubliek China) op initiatief van mevrouw Zhang Shaonan. van 1934 tot 1958 hoorde de Gidsen bij de General Association of the Scouts of China. In 1958 werd de "National Girl Scouts Association of the Republic of China" opgericht in de stad Taipai, Taiwan. In 1962 werd de naam veranderd in "Girl Guides Association of Taiwan Province". Een jaar later melde mevrouw Gao Zi zich op de 18de Wereldconferentie om om lid te worden namens de "National Girl Scouts Association of the Republic of China". In 1999 stelde de WAGGGS voor om de Engelse naam van de organisatie te veranderen in "National Girl Scouts Association of Taiwan" die in 2004 werd vereenvoudigd tot "Girl Scouts of Taiwan". De algemene vergadering van de organisatie heeft de Chinese naam veranderd in "中華民國台灣女童軍" (nl; 'Republiek China Taiwan Meisjes Scouts’) als combinatie van de Engelse en de Chinese naam. Men streeft naar een naamsverandering tot "Girl Scouts of China"
